West Virginia Restorative Justice Summit:
Agenda

The West Virginia Restorative Justice Summit will have a little bit for everyone.

Meals and Entertainment. All meals are included in the registration-we will have continental breakfast and lunch with gluten-free, low-carb, and vegan options on Friday and Saturday. We’ll have dinner on Friday, followed by live music provided by Ashville, North Carolina musicians, Lua Flora.

Break-Out Sessions with Continuing Education Credits. Each day will include four break-out sessions where social workers, licensed professional counselors, peer recovery coaches, and lawyers may attend programs that have been approved for continuing education credit. Those attending the full program will receive credits as follows:

  • Attorneys receive 10.8 credits with 1.2 credits in ethics.

  • Professional Substance Abuse Counselors (WVCBAPP) receive 9 credits.

  • Licensed professional counselors receive 5 credits.

Participation by National Experts. The conference will include an exhibit created by Restorative Justice authors and professors Barb Toews and Howard Zehr, Still Doing Life. They will participate via video conference to answer questions about their project. Kay Pranis, another recognized expert in the restorative justice talking circle, will join the summit live via videoconference.

Breaks and Exhibit Area. We will also have short morning and afternoon coffee breaks and the Exhibit Area will include poster presentations, exhibits, and more and will be open daily during the afternoon.

Keynote and Closing Event. The full conference will gather at the beginning and end of the program, with the keynote by Richmond,Virginia attorney Valerie Slater being delivered on Friday morning.
