Welcome! We are excited to welcome you to the upcoming West Virginia Restorative Justice Summit to be held on the picturesque campus of West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon, WV. The summit will take place from June 14 to June 15, 2024, bringing together diverse voices committed to reshaping our justice system into one that fosters healing and reconciliation. Speakers. The summit will feature esteemed speakers from various disciplines, ranging from judges to attorneys to community volunteers, alongside individuals the justice system has directly impacted. Keynote speaker Valerie Slater, the dynamic executive director of the RISE for Youth Coalition, will share insights and advocate for the rights of system-involved youth, shedding light on innovative approaches to address systemic challenges. Restorative Justice legends Howard Zehr, Kay Pranis, and Barb Toews will join us via video conference for an interactive session with participants. Learn more about our speakers here.
Schedule. The summit will kick off at 8:30 AM on June 14 and conclude at 5:00 PM on June 15, offering participants a comprehensive program including 30 breakout sessions. Attendees have access with access to all sessions and meals, making this summit an affordable and invaluable opportunity for learning and growth. For a detailed agenda, click here.
Credits. Continuing education credits for lawyers, social workers, peer recovery coaches, and licensed professional counselors have been awarded for participants from West Virginia. Qualified police officers who complete the program will receive a certificate in Introduction to Restorative Justice for Law Enforcement Offices. The agenda will be updated when confirmation on credits is received.
Costs. Regular registration closed on June 5th, but we have made late registration available until June 13 at $450.00., which includes all meals, all programs, and live music on Friday evening. Low-cost lodging is available in the dorms for those registering before May 30. To learn more about lodging, click here.
Live music. In addition to the enriching workshops, attendees will have the opportunity to unwind and connect at a live music event on Friday evening featuring the eclectic sounds of Lua Flora, a band hailing from Asheville, NC.
Volunteers. A limited number of opportunities for volunteers to participate in the conference and have all registration and housing costs waived were provided. All volunteer positions are now filled, but late registration is available.
Exhibitors. Exhibitors related to Restorative Justice in West Virginia are welcome to attend free of charge. The deadline for registration, however, has passed and no further exhibitors may be added.
